Hi there,

My objective is to design a tradeshow booth. The dimensions are 116.4 (w) x 90.5 (h). I will be using one large stock photography photograph. My question is, I would like to work in Illustrator but I need to crop the image. Will the photo keep the same quality if I bring it in to photoshop 7 to crop and back in to Illustrator? I always avoid photoshop since it rasterizes images.

Please advise.
Thank you very much.
Stephanie.

The photo is rasterized already, so simply cropping it will not affect the quality. If you bring the Illustrator file into Photoshop, it will probably degrade in quality, as the vector art will rasterize.

If you don't feel comfortable doing it, or you just want to keep your options open, why not just use a clipping mask in Illustrator? That will let you mask the photo, but you can always retrieve it again later if you change your mind.

Hmmm one thing to remember is that you can crop without effecting quality as long as you aren't enlarging the image. That is key. If you enlarge the image and crop at the same time you will effect the quality of the image.

Wow JT that almost looked like you knew what you were doing!
