I am with the Mississippi Highway Patrol and have developed an accident reporting system that allows the officer to recreate the accident scene on a form and save the image locations to a table. The problem is having control to print the location of the images that make up the accident scene. Any suggestions as how to pass the report generator the top & left position of an image(s).

What I do here is
[tt]
1. have the person create the final document in any program they desire and print it to a file format TIF Group 4 Image.
2. I save the image file on a seperate hard drive from the database.
3. Create 3 fields in 2 databases:
1. Database SYS_PARA have a field Images c(25) example " '//ImageServer/drive-d' "
2. In the database of Accident reports I would have 2 Char fields or one memo field.
1. Directory c(50) example "\County\road\"
2. File namec(25) example "report12345678890.tif"

When you need to print or preview the file you call the TIF viewer and pass it a parameter of allt(SYS_PARA.IMAGES)+allt(ACCIDENTS.DIRECTORY)+allt(ACCIDENTS.FILENAME)

This way the database is not carring a Upteen gig General field all the time slowing up the application. Just one mans suggestion.

P.S. the reason I use G4TIFF files and not PDF's or HTML's is because they can be Faxed where PDF's and HTML's can not be. That is a be factor here, it might not be where you are. Also every mac or windows computer can open them. David W. Grewe
