Image Path replacement

I have a problem where I am looking to rename the path where my images for documents come from. I have thousand of images attached to documents and to go through each one and replace would take far too long.

Does anyone know a way of doing a mass replace in the metadata to change the network path of the images.

This doesn't change the path but you may be able to set up an alias of the old location and then have it redirect to the new location. What I have done in the past is create a web alias initially so that if i have to move to different servers all of I have to do is change the alias definition.
