HELP!

I've created a frame in InDesign 2.0 and placed a PSD file inside. The image consists of an object with a transparent background (for example, let's say the image is a star shape and the frame is square - the star is yellow and the space around it is transparent - no color).

I've placed the star shape image in its frame over a blue background. When I print the page, the frame - which should have NO color - turns out a slightly darker blue than the blue background. It's as though the frame is filled with color, but it is NOT.

If this makes sense and someone can help me, I would greatly appreciate any feedback. I've spent hours trying to figure out what's wrong.
Thanks

This is a transparency issue: you may want to read up on the transparency technical articles at adobe.com

The first thing to check is that the artwork that you are layering is made from the same color model. RGB should not be layered over CMYK... CMYK should not be layered over spot colors... etc...

If the color models match, you may simply have a printer/RIP that cannot handle InDesign output. Describe what you are printing to and we can go further.

Thanks!

I did have a few RGB files embedded. I fixed those, but still had a problem. I think it is a printer issue. I've saved everything as a PDF and after some adjustments, the files print just fine.
