image enhancement/smoothing

hello everyone.

i am displaying images in my website but the image quality is really bad... image displayed is distorted.

is there a way to enhance image quality in javascript? i was planning to smoothen image but i just dont know how. i dont even know if image smoothing is the answer to my problem.

please help... thanks a lot for any response.

No. Garbage in, garbage out. Your original images should look good, and you should make sure the images on your web page are scaled properly in an image editing package, not via the browser.

but this web page allows the user to zoom in and zoom out images. image size varies according to users preferences. im having problems when images are zoomed out. the functionalities of these are done in javascript so im hoping there is a javascript code for this as well...

is there really no other way of doing this?

Hi

Well, if you have enough balls, you can rewrite some image manipulation libraries from C to JavaScript... Then you will be able to manipulate the images as you wish and assign the modified content to the [tt]Image[/tt] object as data. ( This later of course not works in Explorer, at least not up to 6. )

dan, is there any other way to do this? maybe make the image look like it smoothen but not really... i dont know...

You could use AJAX to re-deliver a new image on-the-fly, but doing all the processing on the server-side...
