As I am not familiar with java at all, maybe someone has got a hint for me - this is, what I want to do:

- Having an image (img01.jpg) on my webpage
- on top of that another image (img02.jpg), so that img01 can not be seen
- moving the mouse over the image area just shows a small circle of img01 (like a pocket lamp)
- img01 can not be seen completely except for the small pocket lamp area

Is this possible?

Thank you!

Kind regards
Mirko

Check out this "magnifying lens" effect, especially the "unblur" example at the bottom of that page. Perhaps you can adjust that to your needs:

Thank you, although it is not for free, it matches my needs basically and is quite affordable.

Funny enough the glass is a square on IE, but a circle on Firefox.

Thanks again, I will try the "new" one later.

No, the first one was not free, it was a nice link to see how it works, but to get the css and js files needed I had to pay 5$.

Ah, I see.

Well 5 bucks - not exactly a price, more of a voluntary approval fee.
[tongue]

Anyway. If you google for "javascript lens effect" you'll find tons of code for free.

Good luck!

btw, don´t I need a flash editor and creator for the above tutorial?

Any free one known?

Flash?

It's not flash AFAIK. Plain HTML, CSS and JS.

The page seems to be a tutorial for ActiveScript3 - as it says "import a picture to the stage, convert it to movie" etc.
