We currently have 6 XPa servers. All have a problem with the IMA service failing. At the moment we are lucky to get 2 hours uptime. We have spoken to our suppliers who say it is a known problem. Is any body else having this problem, and do you want to compare notes?
When the service fails we have found that you can't interrogate the servers using the "CMC" or the "mfadmin" utility. If you check services the IMA service has stopped but is reporting that it is started. If you try to STOP/START it it just hangs. We have also tried to run "dsmaint refreshlhc" at a dos prompt. Some times we're lucky, but rarely. The published application that users logon to also fails when the IMA service drops out.
Occasionally, when we have had to reboot a server the IMA service fails upon boot up with the error "The Independent Management Architecture Service hung on starting" and the only way to get the system back online is to shut down ALL servers and then reboot the Master Brower Machine first then when it is up power all the other servers back up. NOT WHAT YOU CALL IDEAL!!
Does anybody have any suggestions or a similar problem. Thanks in advance.
