I'm working with Indesign 2 for the first time and having problems with the tiff images placed into the document. The images (photographs) appear unclear on screen and when printed. I've tried placing them in variouse formats other then tiff and they still appear grainy. Those same images do print nicely from photoshop as well as QuarkXpress.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Graph,

There is someting that causes this problem, I do not have Indesign in front of me right now to tell you what it is, check around your preferences for something clicked on like low resolution printing.

I'll find out when I go to work in the A.M. and get back to you, if you haven't figure it out by then.

One of my co-workers had the same problem on a proof he made and we were able to figure it out.

If unclear onscreen, try adjusting the display option - - right click on the image and set it to high resolution. You can also change your display to high resolution from the 'View' menu but this is applied globally to your document and can slow you down on an older machine.

If unclear in print, verify your printing options - - make sure 'optimized subsampling' is not selected in the 'graphics' pane.
