Hi, I have just installed SBS 2011 Essentials 64bit and my aim is to set it up to locally test websites that I build. I am using the exercise to learn more about SBS and setting up the various features.

I'm very new to servers and don't know where to go next. I know I need IIS, PHP, MySQL, etc.

What do I do first and what should I be looking out for?

If you could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. Perhaps there is a step by step instructions somewhere?

Hi,

Normally with Server 2008 and R2 there are no feature or roles installed with the operating system. SBS is different in that it installs the required roles and features to operate a Small Business, eg DHCP, DNS, IIS etc

First thing to do is go into server manager and check the roles and features installed, and also check that in the IIS role ale the required parts are installed for your websites.

How are you going to install the websites and present them to connecting users, is this internal, external or both.

Regards
