One of the advantages of retirement is unlimited vacation time. I'm headed off south in a few days for 3 months. I suppose this means my handle will rapidly disappear from the top of the MVP list. Bummer. If you spot a green & white truck with a camper on it, towing a bright blue utility trailer with a hybrid Canada-US flag on the back, give me a toot.

Thanks for the advice orypecos. I have a laptop, but I doubt most Mexican jails have a wireless router.

Freddiespencer, I'm originally from the UK myself. (left at 8, my parents made me accompany them) Even considered returning & working there awhile when my wife retires in 5 years. Seems to be a large Avaya base there, unlike Nortel dominanted Canada (I worked on M1's as well). Probably by then though, I'll be as useless as a Stroger Switch technician the way technology is going. Actually, I'm starting to like this retirement bit. Already turned down 3 full time job offers. Begging for 3 weeks vacation a year, no longer seems appealing.

Some of my family moved to Canada (Quebec and Ontario) some 40+ years ago – you must know them! In London Avaya have quite a few systems although the high profile of IP telephony is leading to change outs with a lot of new installs going to the traditional data switches (Cisco etc.) I’m too long in the tooth to go back to school for yet another new technology… However we are extremely short of carpenters and bricklayers…
