<<<<All conventional Parent/Child .Open's, .Close's and .Closed are not working>>>>

If you can help I would be much appreciated! I am totally losing control of my browser windows. I am working w/ IE 5.5, and what I am doing is this: Fom my main browser I spawn a child window (which is about 20% of the screen on the right) - fom the child's onload I spawn another window (which is on the left and about 80% of the screen)
---This is where the trouble hit's the left window ultimately opens a RTF file - so it becomes kinda a viewer?and i cannot get it to respond to any of it's variables.
And all i really want to do is to have the right window(parent) close if someone closes the child(left)
Is there any way around this or am i losing all functionality because of the RTF file?

maybe open the RTF inside a frameset, and keep the parent frameset static...i've had this problem with asp pages before jared@aauser.com
