I'm Having ISSUE with my compaq desktop

Hello everyone,

I need help i have a Compaq 5000 series. I just bought a new hard drive is an 80gg. The problem is when i install windows xp SP1 on that computer is goes fine but until it comes press any key to boot from the cd from their i get a black screen i can not see when is installing it i have try two different monitors and i get the samething. Also, I have try the windows xp oem and the recovery cds that it came with the computer. also, i have try a new cd-rom. i have check the cd's in a different computer they work? Did you partition and format the HD?

Are CDrom and Hard drive on the same IDE cable?
Put them on seperate channels, both as master on their own channel.
Also make sure the CDrom is set first in the boot sequence.
