Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem...

On the odd occasion, when a user picks up the handset on one of our 5410s, all they can here is a loud constant beep, as if one of the numbers is being held down (one user said yesterday "My phone's trying to deafen me!"). None of the buttons appear to be stuck, and the only thing that quickly resolves it is to logout then login to the phone.

When it happens, we get it for a few days to several different users, then it goes away completely for a few weeks.

I'm still on 4.1, and will probably upgrade to 4.2 sooner rather than later which I know might fix it, but just curious about this one wierd thing!!

Known issue,

I believe someone dialed *00 and it went away but i am not sure who said it

i found the *00 thing, not sure if it is 100% consistent tho,

i dont think there is a fix or known cause yet?

Dunno if it'll help, but it's worth a go I suppose!

Did just have a look through the 4.2 release documentation and couldn't find a mention of it (although the description of some of the fixed/known issues goes right over my head, despite being from an IT background!), but it does give me another good excuse to upgrade :)

If your problem is the same as this CQ:
CQ39498
"1 DS port has severe screech/DTMF tone when phone goes off hook"

Then the fix will be implemented into next 4.2 release.
"MT_RELEASE_4Q08_4.2"

It's not though, we are trialing that release at the moment and it's not fixed, that was just the target...they missed it.

upgrade quoting the CQ as your reason for it, then blame avaya for missing it out

Mind you, I say it's not fixed as it isn't listed in the resolved/fixed issues section of the release notes, they may have fixed it and not mentioned it but I doubt it, and as you know there is no way to test if they have fixed it as there is no way to recreate it or know when or where it's going to happen.

I had it happening on the new 4.2.11 too so even if you upgrade don't be to happy about that.
I had customers press the # key becasue that is the noise I heard when talking to a customer and it went away too.
