I'm currently running a small NT4/TSE network with 1 member server and 12 client boxes. The server has 2x PIII-450s and 512 RAM running a custom SQL 7 application.
I've noticed when running month-end closing reports, that our processors are max'ing out. I have access to another server with faster processors (2x PIII 866s) and would like to transfer the system load to it, and make the old server my development and testing box (off-network). I dread trying to totally reload TSE and Metaframe, then rebuild all the system options and users.
Is there an easy way to do this. I really don't have much of a budget, so buying an extra copy of the old op system and metaframe is really not an option.
Can I take an image copy of the system harddrive and boot it on the new machine? Both machines are Dell PowerEdge servers, old is a 4300 and new is a 2400. BIOS and ESM firmware look similar, but MB chipsets are very different; 4300 is 440GX and 2400 is ServerWorks.
