Somehow or another my G3si is allowing people to dial the area code for a local call so it is going out on my dedicated long distance T1. How do I restrict people from dialing the area code when the call should be local?
For example 712-255-XXXX is local.
You would need to add rules to your ARS table to keep that from happening. If the entire area code is local, it is pretty easy, just deny 1+area code dialing, or send it to a route patter that strips off the 1 for 10 digit dialing. I force all the users on my system to dial 1+10 digits for everything, and then I send it to the appropriate route pattern and the least cost route. It seems to work very good in my environment...
You can use the ARS Digit conversion table to delete the area code for the NXX codes that are local. Do 'change ars digit-conversion 1' enter 712255 10 10 3.
