I'm attempting to add a new article to a publication. The article is entirely SQL Server 7.0 compliant but will be housed on a SQL Server 2000 system. When I attempt to add the article I get the following message:

"Publishing this article increases the version requirement for Subscribers that are servers running SQL Server, but it does not affect heterogeneous Subscribers.
Currently SQL Server Subscribers must be: SQL Server version 7.0 or later.
If this property is changed SQL Server Subscribers must be: SQL Server 2000."

This is the first time that I have added a table to an existing subscription. Does this message always come up and is there any way that I can get around it?

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

Are you using the sp_addarticle stored procedure?

I was never able to get that to work when trying to add a new table to my replication scheme.

I've always had to delete the subscription and reconfigure it, specifying all the tables I want to be replicated.
I have Merge replication.

That's been my experience, for what it is worth. I have never tried to replicate to a different version of SQL Server.

Thanks,
I think that I'll probably just try delete and recreate the subscription.
