hi there cant seem to copy designs over from illustrator 10 to indesign cs when ive put a transparency on or gradient on etc can anyone help no problems when i save it as psd though just dont get it thanks

Hi rvzy,

Normally you would use the place command to import Illustrator files into InDesign. You save your Illustrator as an *.ai file so that all the features of your illustrator file are kept. In InDesign you can scale and crop your illustrator file but you can't edit it.

The copy and paste from Illustrator to InDesign is only needed if you want the illustrator file to be edited in InDesign. Now the file is a groep and you can edit every anchor point in InDesign.

But to do this you must change some settings in Illustrator and InDesign.

Before copying and pasting a graphic, make sure that Illustrator is configured to copy as AICB (you can make these changes in your preferences) and that the InDesign clipboard preference Prefer PDF When Pasting is not selected in the File Handling panel of the Preferences dialog box.

So that's it

Good luck
