what is the best way to transfer a design made in illustrator into indesign?

You can copy and paste the design directly into Indesign.

You could place the design into InDesign, but you wouldn't be able to edit the text. Text styles don't transfer from Illy to Indesign either when you copy and paste.

The important thing to do really is decide whether you need to copy the whole design into indesign and work on it there. Or place the design into indesign where you won't be able to edit it unless you open it in illustrator.

It really is best to keep the graphic elements in illustrator and place the file into Indesign. Then set the text in InDesign.

Anyway, I'm rambling.

If you want to be able to edit the elements in InDesign then a copy and paste works. Some elements may not transfer though - so be careful.

Alternatively you can place the design in InDesign and then add the text to the Indesign file.
