Illustrator to Indesign creates EPS instead of Vector

HI. I know this question has been raised numerous times, but all in really old posts, and I am hoping someone has a fix for it now:
"this command would create a large number of page items" when dragging and dropping a vector from Illustrator into Indesign. I do this a lot, as I use Indesign as my main program, and Illustrator/Photoshop/Coreldraw as secondary programs, only when necessary. I know that Indesign automatically imports as an EPS if there are too many nodes... I usually break the vector up and drag and drop each piece to ID, then put the pieces back together again. This is really time consuming. Is there no advanced setting in some INI file, or Regedit, or something to increase the number of nodes? I'm sure this was necessary a few years ago, but pcs now have plenty of memory to be able to handle such tasks.
Another way to make less nodes is to make compound paths, or add paths together, but again, this is really time consuming. Any suggestions?

InDesign is not Illustrator. Even with modern resources, InDesign is still going to focus on proxy image previews and limited path tools. There is still good reason to keep most artwork as placed; not copied/embedded.

Illustrator has matured over the years to now include character/paragraph styles and multiple artboards (pages). So you are more likely to see your working style fit with Illustrator than with InDesign.

Thanks, but I just want to know if there is any way to increase the limit Indesign has on vector imports. I am too old to try an learn a new program now. I love the way I can just drag and drop between the 3 (Id, Ai & Ps). Just really bugs me when I cannot pull the entire graphic across.

My last post was meant to imply: "don't hold your breath waiting for InDesign to change in this regard". It is not the intent of the program to compete with Illustrator's features or to heavily support the embedded image workflow.

I am not aware of any way to increase ID's limit. You might check out the more active forums on adobe.com and indesignsecrets.com for a second opinion.
