illustrator running slow...

Hi,

I've been using illustrator for years and lately it seems to be runnung slow. I'll click on something and it will take almost 2 seconds to highlight. If I want to unite 2 shapes with the pathfinder I have to keep clicking, harder and harder before the "expand" button will highlight for me to unite the shapes. I've changed mouses as well as the mouse settings in my computers preferences.

Have you tried resetting illustrator preferences?

Are you running other apps simulataneously? Sometimes their memory footprint grows as they run even if they're not being used much. This can happen with Firefox.
