hi, i have created a template in illustrator. the document is set to pixels and is 750px wide..

when i try to copy and paste into photoshop, what i am copying is much bigger, and is not the correct size.. im sure the photoshop doc is set to pixels aswell.. i have cs versions of both..

can anyone lead me to a guid or explain a method that ensures anything you transfer between the 2 always remains the same pixel size??

You could export the original from Illustrator as a PSD - choose your color mode and keep at 300 dpi should remain same size in pixels.

i tried that and it still was a lot bigger in photoshop

is there anything i can do the illustrator file itself before i export it.???

You're working in one program that's resolution dependent - PS - and one that's not - AI. The dpi in PS won't correspond with using Pixels as the measure in AI if you select Actual pixels as teh view in PS.

It might be easier if you work in inches or cnetimeters. Then go to the PS View menu and select Print size. That will give you an actual representation of the physical size of the thing. That will match the physical size of the AI document.

ok, just to clarify..

should i firstly alter my illustrator image to either inches or centimeters.. and then export it..

or can i simply leave it the way it is.. with a pixel scale and pixels as units, and simply alter the view in photoshop..

the reason is that i am creatin a website template which specifically is 750 pixels wide.. i want it in photoshop to use the save for web feature and i need to know that they are going to save the same size as intented in my illustrator pixel size frame.

No. Use the Place command on the PS file menu and place the AI file. You should be able to alter the view and it should work.

Since it's web you'll be rasterizing through Save For Web at 72 dpi and the AI will be flattened into the resulting jpeg, gif or png.

If you rasterize in AI you have to set the rasterization to 72. Object menu/rasterize.

ok when i rasterize my ai image to 72 it does not seem as bright and clear..

is there anything i can do about this?

Are you sure yoou're using the RGB colors and not cmyk?

Depending on the nature of the graphic, 72 dpi will show some degradation frm a vector, which would be crisper.

Again, if you're putting the thing into a PS file, just Place the AI in the PS thing and Save For Web.
