Illustrator - Effect Wave won't work - only with rectangles!! 1

Hi everyone,

I would really appreciate some help with the Effect - Wave command. I have previously been able to make wavey rectangles without any problems. I can still mave any other shape wavy, and can make rectangles into other shapes using Effects. However, I am no longer able to make rectangles wavey. It can go into the box and select my wave preferences - but nothing happens to the shape.

...if it is a wave shape you are after does the flag effect work?

...if you are having trouble with illustrator have you tried resetting the preferences file, that may be playing up...

...if on mac hold down apple + alt + shift key on launching illustrator...
