Illustrator CS5: No change to Outer Glow color shows only default 1

I am following this tut:

I have changed the Outer glow color in the dialog box to get a different color for the glow. EX: solid green with a light green glowing edge on black background. But the color does not appear. Just a dull grey.

Please help. Thank you in advance.

...ensure your document color mode is RGB and not CMYK...

...file > document color mode > RGB...

...if what you are creating is destined for CMYK output then you will need to modify your artwork to print correctly most likely...

...RGB color spaces aren't the same as CMYK color spaces, RGB has a much larger color range...
