Hi, once again after just resolving a problem , another one surfaces. I have never encountered Illustrator slowing down, before today when I used extrude and bevel it was instant results whereas now it is painfully long which takes all the fun out of any project. Does anyone know why it could be slowing down and what I can do to fix it? Thank you , Naomi

...extrude and bevel is very much dependant on the complexity of the base object involved, without seeing what object you are extruding, difficult to problem solve. Even on my G5 Intel, the 3D functions in illustrator can slow it down, especially when you have a complex object with additional drop shadows, or layered appearances...

...are you extruding the same object as before today, or a different object?

Hi Andrew, I am extruding a different object but I did manage to solve the problem, I just deleted the alpref folder which allows pref.'s to go back to default, once you do another project and save , it will appear again. I tried again and it was up to speed, so it worked! Thanks anyway, I you are probably used to much more complex problems than this. lol I am diffinately no expert. Hopefully I won't have any more unnecessary problems. Naomi

p.s. I can't believe how fast you get an answer here!!! Great place!!!!

...glad you sorted it...

...trust me, i've no doubt you will encounter problems in the future with computers, never mind illustrator!

: )

...this site is one of the best for help as it covers so many applications, not just adobe, but don't forget the adobe forum too, can also be useful:

Actually I have been part of the Adobe forum for a while and haven't received one answer which is why I am here, I was dissappointed but I do think the Adobe site is loaded with useful information, it's those little problems that are annoying that doesn't get enough attention. Thanks for your help!
