Illustrator CS3 crashing when trying to select a font

Hi there,

Every time I write a few lines of text and then attempt to select a font from the type menu the program crashes and quits immediately.

Has this happened to anyone else, and does anyone know why??

...have you tried resetting preferences? press and hold:

apple/control + alt/option + shift (whilst held down launch illustrator).

...if nothing improves after this then try moving out your fonts installed (apart from the system specific ones), move all but the basic ones needed by the system...

...if on mac os x you can use the maintenance app here to clean things out a bit:
