Ok so, I am having a hard time cleaning up a picture. I have some text on a paper, scan it in an then the lines are bumpy. How do I trace it or line it so that I can export it to my cutting software? any help out there?

>Auto Trace tool

Yeah right! The Auto Trace tool is embarrasing... If you have CS2, you can try Live Trace, it works fairly well, but Auto Trace, oh my God what a pile of smelly byproducts!

What you really want to do, though, is learn the pen tool (the one with the fountain pen looking icon), and re-draw the artwork.

OK, I just realized (duh!) you did mention in your thread title that you have CS2, so the Live Trace tool should help you get more or less what you need. I'd still vote for manual re-draw to get top quality, but Live Trace is a good second.
