illustrator artboard size issue

my illustrator artboard size issue is simply getting my monitor to display an actual physical 8.5 x 11 artboard .

changing monitor resoultion settings have thus far not solved this problem as I'm able to achieve a slightly larger page or a signifigantly smaller artboard than the optimum 8.5 x 11 inch realtime size

any tips and suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Fetch your ruler. Draw a rectangle of the same length. Now, in the navigator palette, enter a percentage, compare sizes, enter a closer percentage, compare again, until you find a matching percentage, then make a note of it and enter it whenever you need actual size.

On my 17" laptop, I found 140% to be a pretty close match.

I don't know of another way to do it.
