I have a machine that needs the output (print data) to be from Illustrator 11. I have since upgraded to Illustrator 12 and no longer have 11. I am trying to get the gradient edge of an illustration to print but it prints as the bounding box. I will look for a copy of 11 but in the meantime if anyone has any suggestions… TIA

Just do a SAVE AS, and then a window should come up that has the version in the top box. Just select from that pull down the version you want.

I tried "Saving As" to an older version but no matter what I do I cannot output the data to the driver as the older version.
I am creating a faded border (Feathering) in Photoshop and importing it into Illustrator to print.

If you just have to print, have you tried making a pdf and printing that?

It might also help to make a copy of your AI doc and make sure it's flattened before downsaving. That way you still have any unflattened work in12.

Yes I have tried pdf.....
It worked fine in Illustrator CS (v11) but what could be different?? Will I have better luck with CS3?? I am ready to get it.!!

When you make the pdf, try saving compatible with Acrobat 4. That will flatten everything and often stops printing problems caused by carying transparency through to the print driver or rip.

I thought that it was a fantastic idea and just tried as many different pdf combinations, but it still does not see the transparency, it prints the bounding box..??
