Illustrator 10 Page Setup Error

When I open Illustrator 10 by clicking on the file icons Illustrator opens the document, but with the wrong page setup. But If you use the command to change the page setup you get the error " Cannot change page setup error -111, -113". Has anyone found a fix for this? Thanks!

I am on a Macintosh running OS 9.2.
