In Illustrator CS, It seems that the only way to "save as" an older version is to "export" file as an .ai or .eps file. Is it rquired to export EVERY time after opening and/or revising a file to keep the older version file? It seeems the old "you are saving as an older version" warning is GONE ... and CS will automatically save as CS unless "exported" as an older version. Any way around this???? Cheers.

Yes in CS you have to export *.ai files for backwards compatibility. If your saving a lot of files for older versions of AI, then you could always record an action.
