I have windows 95 and Office 97. Friday I started getting the illegal program message. It is happening it seems in all the office applications. Word, excel, powerpoint. Yesterday I tried loading Office 2000 to see if that would fix the problem. Well it didn't and when I loaded Office 2000 it gave me a message saying: Microsoft Server Extensions. Cannot open "VServer/conf/srm.cnf" no such file or folder. I honestly don't know if this is the problem or not. When I get an illegal program message in Word the details say: Winword caused a general protection fault in module HPFWIN15.DLL at 0016:00008634 and then list a bunch of other things. When its in Excel it says: Excel caused an invalid page fault in module MS09.DLL at 016f:308cfad5. Can anyone help me with this.

Have you tried to reinstall Win 95 (to see if it will replace the dll files)? I would also consider doing a complete uninstall of all Office apps and do a clean install.
Just My 2 Cents

No I haven't tried reinstalling 95. My husband is thinking of wiping the whole thing clean and loading NT. Maybe I will try reinstalling 95 first.

I did uninstall and reinstalled Office but it didn't fix my problem. Thank you for your response.
