A staff member deleted his operating system! Imagine that! Anyways, we used the restore disk to reformat the hard drive and restore the operating system. We entered a ID# that he thought went with his laptop, not sure. Everything seemed fine, windows opened and he loaded programs. Now nothing Win 95 related will work, EXPLORER, CONTROL PANEL, MY COMPUTER, RECYCLE BIN, all cause an illegal operation when we attempt to access them. What could have caused this? Wrong win 95 ID#?

Hi Valentina -
It sounds like a bad Windows installation. Notebooks are usually a bit more
demanding than clone desktops to properly install Windows. The ID is not the problem.
I suggest that you NOT use the restore disk. Instead, start over, using a
'standard' full copy of Windows to get the basic OS installed, then set-up your
specific notebook drivers in Control Panel.
