Illegal Operations when diming Soundtrack

Open Adobe Premier and want to dim the sound track,there is a red line across the soundtrack and you can drag the red line to dim the soundtrack and

When I pull the line down the program says that an illegal operation has been performed and I have to shut down the machine

Any ideas bar a re-install

sounds like your audio card may have issues. try deleting your Premiere prefs file. [sig][/sig]
