Every time I try and download an online program like "callwave" and then try to open it I continue to get this "performed illegal operation and it won't let me install it on windows 98 second edition (yes I know this outdated but it is the only operating system in this house to use so I have no choice in the matter)....would appreciate a work around or a way of being to install this on this program,

Thanks for your cooperation,

Hardryve

The Callwave website appears to give little information about what's needed to run this application. Does the blurb you've got indicate it will run under Windows 98 SE? There are becoming fewer programmes now that will run under this 10 year old operating system. I'm not knocking it - I still have a machine here which is used on a daily basis and happily runs Windows 95!

Ok, well, I'm knocking it - Windows 98 that is. You can't be running it today due to security issues and general program incompatibility. Wow!!!!!!!!

I'll send you the money to buy a Windows 2000 license (if you can find one)..

Goombawaho, whilst not something I would recommend, I have many users who still rely on Windows 98 SE equipped machines. Given that they have a reasonable software firewall, up-to-date AV, and run through a router with firmware firewall, they appear to get far less problems than the users with XP! My Windows 95 PC doesn't get connected to the Internet, although it could do if necessary.

If this is the freeware version, there seem to be several places to download it from. So I suggest that you try another download site because it looks like you might have a bad (corrupt) copy.

I forgot to also add that you might want to test your memory.
