Ill 10 Starting issues

When I start illustrator 10 it shows the palettes but thats it. Theres no File, Edit, View, canvas... basically no illustrator window. Just palettes on a desktop. When I click where the canvas or file should be it just activates the desktop.

Any ideas?

ILL does not display a new doc on launch. You have to go to File/New or press CommnadN (on mac).

If you're not getting your menu bar - File, Edit, etc - your preferences could be fouled up. If you use mac you trash your ILL prefs (without ILL launched. If you use Windows try searching for "ai prefes" or "aiprefs", telling search to display hidden files. When you find it, you can trash it and see if that helps.
