IIS5.0 Logging File Format errors

Using W3C file format, I'm having log files being generated out of standard. Files should be exYYMMDD.txt (example: ex010204.txt), but what I'm getting is ex010204bbb.txt. The 'bbb' maybe 'aaaa' or 'cccc' or any one of a number of chacters. Able to read file fine, however the reporting software (WebTrends) cannot process out of standard file format.
Any suggestions?
