iis won't serve site

am running sbs2000 server (win2k server, iis, exchange, isa server, etc)

jus set up a DSL connection, should be able to serve websites.. whatever i do, it won't work...


any pointers? Andrew Shepherd

Are you saying that you can't even access the server locally or just through the DSL? If just through the DSL, what DSL Modem are you using and does it have a firewall? We recently put in DSL here and couldn't work out why we couldn't connect to a webserver through a DSL router, even following all the instructions we were given. Eventually, I completely disabled the firewall and it worked fine. It transpired that the firewall was set to block everything coming in despite what the manual said so after re-enabling and reconfiguring it to allow web requests through, everything is now working fine.

If you type your IP address into the safe web browser box, it will try and browse it from their site, i.e. externally. This saved me a lot of messing about. If it can connect it will show the web source, if not it wlil time out.
