I installed xp pro as I have ordered VS.NET and while I wait, trying to make a page on the default web using Frontpage XP... with a simple form that should write the txt entered to a file: private\Message.txt

when I submit the form it shows the default "No front page server extensions" page, but I have dl and installed the frontpage 2002 server extensions and they show in the management counsole, and service is running.

The txt file is created, but contains no text. This is all a walk in the dark for me, all the help files seem to indicate its been set up right ...
when i check the page properties it shows no server, IIS help says just adding the file to c:\inetpub\ will "publish" the page, Frontpage says page must be published to server w/extensions installed. This is such a foolish problem I must be missing something basic ....
Thanks if you can help ...

You said you have the server extensions installed, but have you "configured the server extensions" on the virtual directory you are trying to post to?

Chris.

I re installed ISS and Frontpage and even the frontpage extensions and it worked, except I had an error shoing in ISS under my default web page ... I messed around broke it worse to where the front page extensions were fried ... I reinstalled front page extensions and set up a virtual directory (not my default ISS web) and everything started working perfectly no errors, including the default web .... not as good as actually knowing what Im doing but Im getting closer. Still unsure If I can access my default web from the internet but it works on the local network ...
5 days since I ordered VS.NET and it still hasnt shipped :(
Thanks for the reply!
