IIS on NT 4 and email

I am trying to configure our clients to be able to check their email using OE 5 from behind the firewall.

I have given permissions to the users to access the pop3 smtp protocols and ensured that the ports are set properly. The clients run on ip and use the proxy client to access web pages (which work).

OE cannot find our email server on the outside of the firewall.

The inside nic is running a DHCP server for 192 addresses and the outside is on a 10. address.

is the email server setup to accept pop3 and smpt client requests?? to my knoledge exchange isn't setup by default to accept them...
