hi guys,

im suppose to install IIS 6 on windows 2003 server. my boss gave me a box which has the standard version installed with only terminal services as its role. it showed that it has IIS 6 already running but only the FTP. how can i make it to run a website also? do i need to add to application server to its roles?

hope to hear from you soon. thanks.

create the site.

Open IIS manager.
right click: Web sites.
Choose: New
Choose: Website
Give it a name
Assign an IP
point the web site in IIS to the web site you created
set DNS record to point to the IP

You should have a Web site.

Lovesr,

right click: Web sites. - i dont see this, all i see is DEFAULT FTP SITE
Choose: New -cant proceed
Choose: Website -cant proceed
Give it a name -cant proceed
Assign an IP -cant proceed
point the web site in IIS to the web site you created -cant proceed
set DNS record to point to the IP -cant proceed

Sure it is, open your control panel, double click add/remove programs, then click add/remove windows components. Another box will pop up, highlight Application server and click details, then highlight Internet Information Services and click details. Scroll to the bottom of this box and put a check in the World Wide Web service box.

Click OK a bunch of times, it'll probably ask for a CD, then you're good to go.
