Hi,
I am having real problems getting an ASP script to connect to an Access database with a system DSN which is sat on another server.
If I copy the file to the web server and point the DSN at that then it works but if I have it on the other server with the DSN pointing at it I get the following error:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file '(unknown)'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.
I am certain the answer lies in the following MS article but there are some gaps in my knowledge so I can't really make sense of it!
Under authentication methods in IIS properties it is set up to use integrated windows authentication - everything else is unticked.
So when my ASP script is running and it tries to connect to the database is it using the account that I am logged in with on my client PC or is it using some kind of system account? I have tried adding 'Everyone' as permissions on the MDB file but whatever account the IIS server is using I think must not be part of 'Everyone'.
Any ideas of things I can check?
Thanks very much
Ed
