This is a really odd problem I was wondering if anyone else has encountered it or has any ideas what might be happening.

I have 4 servers, on one of them when I go to open Internet Services manager it tells me it cannot connect to the server it is running on. It can connect to all the other servers fine, but none of them can connect to this 'problem' server.

One other odd thing is that the local administrator login cannot connect to any of the other servers, but my personal login (which is in the administrators group) can connect to all the other servers just fine.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. The New Zealand Site

Hello!

Are you trying to connect to the other Server with local account or account of DOMAIN? if you want to connect with the local accaount than you must creat Trust relationship bitween all your four servers.

I hope this will help. iis_guru@yahoo.com

Hi itguru, thanks for replying.

I believe all 4 servers do have a Trust relationship and they have a Trust
relationship with the domain that they all belong to. I can connect from
any of them to any others (except for the problem server at the moment).

On the problem server ISM (Internet Services Manager) cannot connect the
server that it is running on, but it can connect to the other servers.
Previously with the local admin account ISM was able to connect to the
server it was running on now it cannot. I can connect from other servers to
all but this one using my personal account which is a member of the
Administrators group (which I believe is a domain account), but I cannot
connect to the problem server.

If this server somehow lost it's Trust relationship would it be having a
problem like this?

Also I have recently discovered that the administrator of the trusted
domain to which this server belongs does not experience the problems I do
when he goes to manage the machine through his domain. That sounds like it
might be a permissions/trust problem, but I have no idea how to go about
fixing it. The New Zealand Site

Well I'm not sure what the underlying problem was, but I uninstalled the FTP and the symptom disappeared. Still, if anyone has any ideas what may have been the problem, because I'm still going to need to install FTP on this machine. The New Zealand Site

You may want to ensure that all the IIS services are running with the correct user accounts.. You can check these by going to CONTROL PANEL, SERVICES.

Hope this sheds some light into this twilight zone problem.. hehe

Cheers,

G.
