HI, just wondering if you guys could help me out. I have a website setup with anonymous access and basic authentication, only 1 folder has had the anonymous user removed and it prompts me for a username and password as expected, however when i enter the details i cant get access, the user i'm using has full access to the folder (and files contained within) and if i change to intergrated windows authentication there is no problems.

just cant get access via basic authentication.

any ideas?

Thanks

Dave

Are you specifying the domain name? Is the domain name setup correctly in the IIS admin?

What errors are reported in the event log and/or the IIS log?

I have tried specifying the default domain name and leaving it blank (the webserver is a stand alone server so the domain is the server name)

no errors are showing in the event log or the IIS log
the error i get in any browser that tries to connect is

HTTP Error 401.3 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to an ACL set on the requested resource.

That error will typically happen when there is an issue with the NTFS permissions on the folder or a parent folder.
