Hi All I have a website hosted on a workgroup server running server 2003 dmz machine and recently when i try to view the webpage it keeps asking me for a username and password. If I cancel the request I get a 401.1 error.

I have enabled anonymous access and have checked that the anonymous account has ntfs permissions as well.

Any ideas as I cannot see why this is happening

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

Do the IIS service ids have access to the directories in question? Anonymous access relies on the IIS_USR (don't recall the correct spelling). If it doesn't have access to the specified directory you'll probably get prompted
