Dear All

I am looking to install IIS but we want only users who have been given a certificate who can access the IIS server from home.

Is this possible?

Many Thanks

RAYMFC

You can use the Certificate Server that comes with Windows 2000 Server.

I do advise you to do some reading on it first. M$ has lots of white papers on their Certificate Server.

You can have serveral setups, but the one I use is to have users log into the Certificate Web Enrollement site and request a certificate. When you install the CA, it also installs the Web Enrollement Site. The certificate is pending until I acknowledge it. The user can then return and install the certificate on their system at home.

If you integrate it into AD, the Certificate is automatically accepted, which I didn't like for my purposes, but it may be fine for yours.
