Hello,

While trying to fix something in my IIS, I made it worse. I ran the following command:

cscript adsutil.vbs set w3svc/disablesocketpooling true

and now I can't restart IIS. The IIS Admin service fails with an "invalid handle" error. I'm using IIS6. Is there any way to reverse this command?

What were you trying to fix that made you want to run that command?
If you rerun the command, but chance the "true" argument to "false", it should re-enable socket pooling, thus bringing your sites back.

I was trying to get my SMTP service to start. I tried running the command that you suggested, but it only works when IIS is running. Come to find out, I had a corrupt file in the C:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys folder. I had to delete the folder, recreate the folder, encrypt it, and reinstall IIS. I think it was just a coincidence that I couln't start IIS after running that command.
