I’m not an expert on IIS by any means but have never really had any config problems. I have an existing intranet on IIS 5 on a Windows 2000 server and I use a virtual folder on a standard network share to store files that users pull up. Files security is based standard domain user groups. This works well because it allows users to update their own files easily too by accessing the file share directly.
However, I’m migrating the intranet to a Windows 2003 server with IIS 6. The network file share still resides on a separate Windows 2000 server. The file access via the intranet works fine for non-protected files but I can’t access files protected by the NTFS domain user groups. The browser windows just keeps asking for user authentication again and again, then just says the user is not authorised to view the pages etc..
Has anyone got any ideas or any suggestions on good resources sites? I’ve had a good Google but I can’t seem to find out what I’m doing wrong.
