RE: Windows 2003 and IIS 6.0

If you run a password-protected IIS 6 website (disabled anonymous access) you will find that only Administrators can log in as the default. You must manually make any non-administrator (a regular user) a member of the "OWS_<some number>_browser" Group.

Sorry, I'm not sure what the <some number> means. On my system, it is 1107075306.

Alternately, you can run the Server Extensions Administration utility to create users and give them browse-only rights. To run the utility:

Programs>Administrative Tools>IIS Manager>local computer>Web Sites>"web server name">All Tasks>Check Server Extensions

Any other (non-administrator) user, who is not a member of this special Group, will get an "HTTP Error 401.3 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to an ACL set on the requested resource"
