IIS 4.0 Security

Hi, I am playing with IIS 4.0 purely for my own fun and education at the moment.

I can not help but think that it is choc full of holes and security problems, so my question is

What are the basic and recommended security procedures to help to lock up a live public server - what do I really need to know about to stay on top of security?
