Hi All,

I've tried to search for other threads on this, but have been unable to find anything (for reasons that may be obvious in a moment).
I'm using Access 2007, keeping track of books. Many titles use "The" and I would like to have my reports do ascending sorts while ignoring the "the" Up til now I've been ignoring the "the" in data entry, or doing this:

Tsarina's Daughter, The

but I'd like to enter these in a normal fashion.
Any ideas on how I can accomplish this?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Probably the easiest way is as follows:

The report should be based on a query...
In the query, add an additional field that is something like: Sortable: Trim(Replace([fieldname],"the",""))
Then in your report, you sort on this field, but display the regular field.

Tsarina's Daughter, The

Is normal for books etc. The alternative is to include a list of start words (a. an, the ...) and have code to copy the title to a sort field minus the start word.

Beautiful, Mr. Johnson, works like a charm.
Have a star and a GREAT day!
